Application of Collective Bargaining Agreements

We help our clients efficiently apply the terms and conditions of guild/union collective bargaining agreements to the type of work and platform they are producing for.  Moreover, we have relationships across the industry to get an effective pulse of how others may interpret and apply complex provisions in similar situations.

Representation in Organizing Campaigns

When an entertainment guild/union instructs their members to refuse services until a collective bargaining agreement is in place, a crew walks out, or you are faced with a representation petition from the NLRB, we have been there to counsel, advise and represent clients so that their businesses are protected and any disruption is minimized.

​Residuals

We know residuals. We have advised and represented clients in helping decipher what residuals provisions apply; how to budget, calculate and pay residuals; how to budget and account for downstream Supplemental Markets fees; and have worked with clients in their handling of a variety of residuals audits and claims. 

Negotiation

We have extensive experience representing clients in guild/union negotiations ranging from single-project-only collective bargaining agreements to bespoke collective bargaining agreements that cover major areas of their businesses.  Through our negotiation experience and professional relationships across the table, we know what is fair for our clients and how to achieve the best results.

Dispute Resolution

We have represented clients across all types of guild/union claims, including rate and payment claims, contract interpretation claims, and residuals claims. Having negotiated, settled, and disposed of claims up to and including through obtaining arbitration decisions, we can manage claims efficiently and effectively. Where necessary, we also provide consulting services for guild/union disputes where matters require large-firm litigation support.

Court Approvals

We handle the court approval process for child performer contracts in California, New York, Tennessee, and elsewhere every step of the way -- from the preparation of pleadings all the way through the attainment of a signed court order and subsequent required court filings. 

Advice

​​We provide professional legal advice on the application of state and federal child performer laws across all genres of production, including difficult questions concerning the application of laws and permit requirements for documentary, docu-follow, and reality programming. 

​Waivers

We work with producers on various issues involving the application and interpretation of child performer education requirements and working hours limitations across all types of productions. Where necessary and available, we work with state and guild/unions to obtain waivers.
